If you fell for our "Apple acquired iFixit" April 1st joke, rest easy. Selling out iFixit's core beliefs is unthinkable. We'd stop breathing first.
Our mission is to teach everyone to repair everything. That mission can only be achieved by a grassroots community of individuals, small repair shops, and local groups working together to build a repairable world. The only way this is going to work is one repair, one person, one bolt at a time.
Yes, we have fun poking at Apple on occasion. Our banter with them is friendly, pointed at times, but it's always aimed in a constructive direction. We love their products and we love the wicked smart people that work there. A partnership with Apple would be exciting on many levels: wouldn't it be great if they made parts and manuals available for their products? Isn't it possible to make a thin iPad that's also repairable? We certainly think so.
It seems like every week, we hear a story about some beloved company like Instagram or Oculus getting snapped up. And good for them! But we believe that an independent world is often better.
Small is good. Small has a reach, a purpose, and a soul that big just can't match. Our community is having an impact. Collectively, we've fixed millions and millions of products.
Thank you for helping us fix the world. We're not selling to Apple, or anyone else.
Now let's go fix some stuff!

My kind of site, I wish you guys where around when i was younger, I always loved tearing my stuff down to either see how it worked, or to repair,Kudos to you all in not only believing in repairing, but giving us both the means, and knowledge to do so. Soooo glad it was only a Joke.

I was SOOO UPSET. Wanted to write them a letter, how they sold them self for money, because of they sudden shift from "repair" to replace... after all these ifix stories how much energy is wasted to produce new device and etc...
