Samsung S22 screen priced at €242.95.

Somehow, Samsung S22+ screen is much cheaper, priced at €169.95.

Seriously? is selling screens for a 4yo smartphone at 250€ part of your repair philosophy?

On top of that, it is absurd. You are selling a bigger screen, of a more expensive device (same brand and year), much cheaper.

Very dissappointed, to be honest.

Just noticed that the badges are no longer individually and distinctively coloured but I presume that now they are supposed to represent the colour of their level value i.e. gold, silver and bronze, is this correct?

If so it's a bit hard to discern what they are when looking at them on the leaderboard page in Answers except for perhaps the level 2 silver badges.

It is a bit easier when looking at the badges on a user's reputation page although only because they're grouped in order from level 3 (gold) down to level 1 (bronze)

Not as distinct as they used to be in my opinion

Feedback: Using FixBot in Answers

Hi! We've been noodling on using FixBot to help out with Answers, but I'd like to get all of your feedback on it.

Despite everyone's amazing efforts, we still don't have an answers to as many questions as we like. FixBot can help fill in the gaps where we have repetitive questions, low effort questions, or just didn't have the right expert on hand the day the question came in.

We are going to start with a few experiments:

Prompting the user for more detail for their question

Reformatting questions to be more useful

Answering old, stale and unanswered questions. (Like this and this and this.)

When we answer questions as FixBot, we want to be respectful in how we do it. We're initially thinking of having FixBot post like any other community member, with posts that can be voted up and down.

What do you think? How can we make this helpful and additive to the community? What kind of safety checks would you like to see in place?

Is it normal to pay CHF 34 in UPS fees on a €88 order to Switzerland?

Hello,

I am writing to highlight a very disappointing and frankly misleading experience when ordering from iFixit Germany to Switzerland.

I placed an order for an iPhone 11 battery replacement kit with a total value of €88.16. At checkout, there was no clear warning that the chosen shipping method (UPS) would result in significant additional charges.

Upon delivery, I was forced to pay CHF 34.40 in extra fees:

- CHF 5.75 – customs duty

- CHF 2.15 – VAT

- CHF 26.50 – UPS brokerage fee

Let me be very clear: the actual taxes were minimal (~CHF 8), while the majority of the charge came from UPS brokerage fees, which are entirely disproportionate and not transparently communicated during the purchase process.

As a customer, I find this unacceptable. The total cost of the order increased significantly due to a third-party fee that I was neither properly informed about nor given the opportunity to avoid (e.g. by choosing a different shipping method or self-clearing the shipment).

It is also misleading that the product is shipped from Germany, yet the country of origin (China) leads to additional customs handling, which again is not clearly explained during checkout.

iFixit presents itself as a customer-friendly and transparent company. However, this experience does not reflect that standard.

At a minimum, customers should:

- be clearly warned about potential brokerage fees,

- be offered alternative shipping methods (e.g. postal services),

- or be given the option to handle customs clearance themselves.

Otherwise, this creates the impression that customers are being set up to incur hidden costs after purchase.

I strongly urge iFixit to address this issue. Until then, I would caution other customers in Switzerland to avoid UPS shipments due to excessive and non-transparent fees.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you.

Not sure if iFixit Narwhal driver is meant to be magnetic...

I recently bought the iFixit Narwhal 6-in-1 driver and bit set, and I've been loving its versatility so far! One thing I'm quite confused on however (that I'm not finding answers for online as well), are the bits meant to be able to hold screws magnetically? I'm getting mixed information about what part of this driver/product is magnetic, and the screwdriver I have doesn't hold the screws magnetically - more specifically, if I flip the bit holder to the smaller end and use the smaller philips bit, screws do ever so slightly stick to that bit magnetically but its so weak that the screw just falls off, and using the larger end of the bit holder results in no noticeable magnetism. Can someone clarify this to me? Thanks
