iFixit battery drains really fast

Has anyone else ordered a battery from iFixit and it performed worse than the original one that's a couple years old ?

I talked to the support and got a replacement one, but the second one performs just as bad as the first.

Also the adhesive used is incredible brittle and impossible to remove without breaking it one piece at a time, applying a lot of force and risking blowing the battery in your face. Even the original part that's 7 years old got removed in one piece.

The screen I got has 1mm gap from the frame to the edge, has this happen to someone else ?

We're going to update some old forum answers and we want your thoughts

We have a super cool new internal thing we’re doing called Project Vulcan which will pull together troubleshooting steps for a wide range of devices in order to better help folks fix their stuff, but faster! We have a team that we’ve hired who are doing this. To date, our team has created over 100 problem pages spanning Apple products to vacuums, with many more on the way. As we've been creating these pages, we've been looking at how and why people are searching for these across the internet.

One huge thing we've noticed is that there are several older answers on the forum that still receive a lot of engagement—there are some cases where the top answer solves the issue for the OP, but doesn't address all of the possible causes that other people, often visiting the post months (or even years) after the answer has been posted, are experiencing. Enter: our freshly written Vulcan pages. (We call these “problem pages” internally.)

We are looking at these older answers and will be plugging in links to these new pages. For example, <ins>this answer</ins> by @oldturkey03 is a great example. His initial suggestion to reset the TV worked for the OP, but several other users have commented on his post asking for further help. I would imagine oldturkey might not have time to respond to all of these questions, and we feel @billg66’s problem page, <ins>Samsung TV Won't Turn On</ins>, will probably provide the further assistance many of these users need.

We absolutely don’t want to edit anything in a way that steps on your toes. We plan on adding something like this to the end of oldturkey’s post:

"iFixit Staff Edit: for more details on how to diagnose a bad power supply or motherboard and further assistance with your problem, check out our <ins>Samsung TV Won't Turn On</ins> troubleshooting page."

As always, we're looking to help people fix the most devices, and to keep things out of the landfill in the process. If you have any feedback or comments on this, we'd love to hear it!!

We really feel like these pages are going to help people fix their stuff.

If you have any questions, tag @austinblakely and I for more information!

Hi iFixit crew (and everyone) :)

When I passed 2K rep points, I received the promo code / $20 coupon.
I ordered some swag from the iFixit EU store last week and I figured I'd use the promo code for a little discount, but the store wouldn't accept the code.

Are those codes only applicable in the US store? The coupon is $20 and in the EU store the currency is €, many that's where the issue resides?

Is anyone else having an issue viewing any of the standard iPads?

During the past week, I've been cleaning up the Apple iPad Repair wiki by putting the devices into their respective categories (i.e making a distinction between the standard iPad and iPad Air etc). I made a page for the Standard iPad and put in a request to move all ten devices into that category.

However, there seems to be an issue where those devices are in the device tree, but are not showing up in the Standard iPad Wiki, and anytime I attempt to move a device, such as the iPad 1, it will say that the device is already in the parent category.

As usual, any help is greatly appreciated.

Question about the Manta kit

So.. I was one of the lucky winners in the Show and Tell contest.
I have been using it every single day since I received it, and I have never had a better experience with a kit than this!

But I have a question: When using the small driver, the magnetism "travels" to the bit and magnetizes it to help with picking up the screws. The large driver though, does not? There is only a minute amount of magnetism forwarded, barely enough to slightly stick to a screw, not even enough to pick up the smallest screw I have, to test.

Is it supposed to do this? I don't really mind, but sometimes I have to use another driver with a magnetized tip to pick up screws from where I can't get my fingers..
