iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera calibration after camera replacement issues

Less of a question but more of a finding that might be useful to you guys.

Ensure you are getting a high quality OEM grade back glass for replacements. I have experienced a problem with calibrating a genuine apple pull camera due to the lidar sensor not functioning correctly.

Suppliers in China and lots of online replacements sell the '2 in 1' back glass. This is the cheaper version but doesn't feature the pink reflective coating. Rather just black paint.

Ultimately it just means the lidar will no longer function after replacement with the poor quality part. Good way to check is shining a light through, you should see a red colour and checking the measure app to see if it has a sense of scale and is accurate.

The calibration error that I was getting is cannot find any objects and was told to restart. Lidar needs to function for the calibration process to work.

When I replaced with an OEM grade panel the error still occurred. In my case I used the measure app for a few minutes to check the lidar works and retried the calibration which succeeded.

Product Arrived with Battery at 0%

I didn't want to post this publicly, but there's no private email address listed. I just received the FixHub | Power Series Soldering Toolkit. The battery arrived completely discharged. Unless there's something I don't know (let's face it: there's a lot I don't know), rechargeable batteries can be damaged if they're over discharged.

I want to be clear: I'm not concerned. The rate of charge appears to be consistent with a healthy battery. I simply wanted to reach out in case you need to break out some of your stock and top it off, or change something in the packaging process.

Did my soldering iron get bricked by the most recent update?

I just got the ifixit smart soldering iron without the base station for my birthday and I plugged it into the webapp where I saw it had a firmware update so I started the updated it got to 71% and said there was an unexpected error and to try again, so I did and it did the same thing. After this It did not show up in my devices or in my system info.

I used the ifixit help bot to try to fix it and went so far as to try using the tp3 to ground method which I don't entirely understand to reset it. But i think there was an error during the firmware update that somehow corrupted the usbc bootloader because it does not even turn on (the lights or heat) when plugged into a cord only running power. Any advice would be appreciated and is there some way I can just manually reinstall the firmware? I am on a mac book pro m4. The issue with that idea is that the soldering iron doesn't even show up in the system info anymore.

Because I received this as a gift I do not have the details of the purchase, I can get them though. But I would like to at least try to repair it myself, so please help I would really love to use this Iron because it is the only one I have.

IEC 62368-1 Flaw Causing Premature Power Adapter Failures? 100% TRUE!

"I've been digging into power adapter failures for years, and I want to share a harsh truth with this community:Most AC adapters (chargers, power bricks, etc.) contain a seemingly minor design oversight allowed by IEC 62368-1 Clause 5.5.2.2 — specifically, the lack of proper dynamic discharge for X-capacitors during continuous operation. This creates cumulative surge stress and EMI buildup that slowly degrades components, leading to premature failure far before the device's natural lifespan. The result? Massive electronic waste — we're talking millions of tons added globally each year from devices that could last decades.I've developed a simple, zero-cost fix: the Golden RC Inequality (RC ≤ 1/(2F)), which can reduce EMI by 15-20 dB and failure rates by up to 70%. It's fully verifiable with basic equipment.Would you be interested in:Seeing the technical breakdown and simulation data?
