I believe Tristar tester is a great tool for high traffic shops where its diagnostic speed pays off quickly its cost by saving the time to open up the iPhone for basic testing. As a repairer I haven’t really felt the need to buy one. In Macs I believe the closer we get to part of Tristar functions is the SMC, which is by far more advanced and supervises a greater number of functions and tasks though. I’m not aware of any tool that would be able to determine the SMC condition by plugging it into the Magsafe or Usb-C port, but it would undoubtedly be a precious resource for diagnostics.
