Title:

Using a multimeter to troubleshoot parts

Text:

On Answer board we see a lot of machines getting no power at startup caused by an electrical problem often related to the DC IN BOARD, battery charging boards or the logic board. There are many users that buy parts to finally discover that the purchased part was not the culprit. It would be great if there was a page that could specify how to use a multimeter to read the voltage at the DC IN BOARD output (or other parts like inverter sockets, etc), well the most common electrical issues.

In this page you could also give info about the output readings of the problematic electrical parts of the iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, MacBook Pro lines.

I know there are many techs here that could help but often they don't have access to all models.

This page could give the opportunity to Answers contributors to give a more efficient help to the "technically inclined' users to test their parts before a purchase and would bring more new iFixit users via Google so a potential for more sales for iFixit web site.
