Why does my MacBook beep after RAM replacement

I recently purchased a "PC2-5300 4 GB RAM Chip" from iFixit to replace one of the 1GB RAM's in my dual core processor. Although after trying multiple times it keeps beeping 3 times over and over again and wont turn on. When I put the factory RAM back in, the computer works fine though. What is the problem? Did iFixit send me the right part?
