Is it acceptable to accept the only answer on a question for dead HW?
This is in relation to this question: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/4110...
Since this phone died and I pretty much know it died because of a hardware issue, I'm hesitant to try and repair the phone. I just don't think it's worth taking a chance on this phone when the LG G4 has known issues that cause the phone to bootloop. I need a high confidence rate in repair on phones like this, and I just can't get it.
With that being said, I did once ask that question and someone tried to help me in the past, so I accepted the answer under the basis that they made an effort to help. I know I couldn't fix the phone and I am now no longer able to use it, but the thing is I was in a catch 22 situation because I once asked the questions and both remaining options sucked.
Since both options are less then ideal in my situation, I had to choose one of the two. It was going to be a situation where me or a moderator accepts it at this point, so I figured it was better if I came in and accepted it to save the moderators a little time so they can focus on other things. I did make sure to let them know why I did it and the circumstances I had with the phone, so they at least have some closure on what happened with the phone (and that I appreciate the effort that was put forward to try and help me).
How is this practice generally looked at within the community? I understand it isn't ideal, but I at least wanted to provide closure and thank them for the effort.
Is this a worthwhile discussion?
