Well..without an app..we could receive email notifications...which would tell us when someone comments on our answers, accepts our answers, mentions us. Honestly I turned all the push notifications off on my phone. And keep my phone on silent. Feels so much better. I just check things when I want to

Just like the notification option on you profile, except it notifies you on your phone.

@kyle Good, but does that apply to Android/chrome also? Try going to a website like https://www.bhphotovideo.com
The first time you go to that site it'll ask you about notifications. Assuming you say yes, it gives you notifications across all your devices with chrome. I was hoping something similar for iFixit.
