What double sided tape should I use on my 64-bit driver kit?

When I had to have my 64-bit driver kit replaced under warranty, I removed the sheet magnet from the back of the case just in case my replacement driver kit did not come with the sheet magnet I need for the Pro Tech Toolkit it goes with. When I received the replacement it became clear that I was never going to get the magnet back so saving it wasn't such a bad idea in hindsight.

The problem is I used WD-40 to remove it, which destroyed the adhesive to an extent. I did this to avoid damaging the case to avoid damaging the old driver bit case because I had to send it back. Because I had to save the magnet non-destructively I ended up using WD40. I can't bear the smell of it and the old tape was soaked, so I had to remove the old tape :(. The problem now is that I cannot attach the magnet to the case since I do not have anything to use in terms of replacement tape.

Does anyone at iFixit have a recommendation for tape? I'm thinking about getting this tape since I live near a Walmart that sells it. If anyone has better recommendations then this, let me know. Here's one of the cheaper "wide" tape options I found that seems like a good candidate from Home Depot. I also found another option from Home Depot but it's on the expensive side and is almost certainly not going to be picked.

Carpet tape.

Besides that, I don't think WD-40 was necessary. Many times the plate will unstick when just pulling the kit of the other plate. When I first got it, The plate fell off when I was only holding it in my hands. But I stuck it back fine.

You're probably right about WD-40 being unneeded but I had to send it in for warranty. I was concerned that I may damage something unless I used something like that to ease removal.

I also find it very hard to believe carpet tape will fit since it's much wider then standard double sided tape. Even if that's what they use buying a whole roll for one driver kit is excessive.

@nick suite yourself but it's one of the best double sided tapes available. That roll will get use.

I'll look at the prices and see, but I have a feeling it'll be cheaper to get a smaller roll.

Where I come from they have it in everything from 1/4 to 4 inch.

I looked on Home Depot and found 2" HyStick for $5. It's a little more expensive then I would have liked but I still have the magnet and I can put it in the Pro Tech.

I'll certainly consider that suggestion. I looked at 3M because Walmart sells it and I live near one so it's just as easy to get it from Walmart (even though I can't get Tessa tape).
