"Add a comment" character limit work around. Bug or not?

Hi,

Re: "add a comment" character limit of 1024 characters in the ifixit answers forum.

This can be by-passed by simply posting a comment of less than 1024 characters and then returning to edit the same comment. There appears to be no character limit after this when you do it this way. (At least not 1024 characters anyway)

Is this intentional or an oversight perhaps?

It is more difficult to proof read the "edited" comment before resubmitting though.

Hey @jayeff this is a bug and we have an open ticket to fix it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Don't fix it! many of us use that "feature" especially for making comments shorter than 12, too.

@evan - Please leave it alone!

We have to fix it, but we may be able to meet in the middle. @danj @oldturkey03 @mayer what do you think is a reasonable minimum character count (or word count?) for a comment, keeping in mind it will apply to all users, not just you guys.

I say its... enough to say thanks without doing something like thaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnkkkkkkkkkkssssssssss which I sometimes see

so, 6 letters

@evan - I tend to write larger comments while I do try to keep them as brief as possible sometimes it just doesn't work. The bug here is the way people often append a follow up question. If I can I spin it off but sometimes it just makes it more complex when the core question is needed for reference. As an example some URL's are quite long so if I past a few parts or even a few IFIXIT guides it gets tight in what I can write.

Do we really need to fix it? The limiter does work! Its only if you go into edit the comment can be enlarged.
