iPhone 6 replacement battery connection doesn't line up

I am replacing the battery on my iPhone 6. Ordered the entire kit (including battery) from ifixit. The battery connection on the replacement battery doesn't come close to lining up with the connections on the phone. I compared it to the apple battery I just took out and it is a bit more than an 1/8 th of an inch to far North and east of the phone connections. What the heck...and how do I fix this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

It's typical for the cable to have a bit of extra slack, and it may take a little finagling to get it to lay down properly (this is true whether you're installing a new battery or the original—hence the instruction to line up the connector before you glue the battery down).

That said, 1/8 inch sounds like a lot. If it's not cooperating, reach out to iFixit customer service and they can set you up with another battery if that one's out of spec.

Hmm... Can you post the model number of your phone and the link to purchase the battery?

maybe you ordered the wrong battery.

I just went through replacing an iPhone 6 battery, and had the same exact issue. The problem is that the iPhone 6 battery iFix it sells does not have the battery cable bent; if you compare the original battery and the replacement from iFixit, you’ll notice that the replacement battery’s cable need to be bent two times to mimic the exact cable path as in the original battery.

This is a very complex and fidgety procedure, and worst of all, if you glue the battery down and forget to bend the cable before gluing, you`re in for a world of pain and suffering.

I wish the replacement battery came with the cable pre-bent, or at least that the guide and accompanying video instructions mentioned this critical step. This is a serious problem and can be attested by several comments about botched repairs in the battery replacement guide.

Without a pre-bent cable I’d rate this replacement as very tricky and would not recommend a novice attempt it.
