That's an excellent question, John.

Yep, pretty much!

Every battery we sell is made to the same technical specifications as the OEM counterpart, meaning the cycle count and capacities are all within the same range as an OEM battery.

Here's a bit more info about our process if you're interested: When we receive them from our suppliers, they are hand-tested and inspected for any Quality Assurance issues such as defects or damage, rips or tears in insulation, tears in cables or missing pins, etc. We then connect each battery into one of our benches and run diagnostic tools to check out the stats to see if the battery is healthy and meets our standards. Any battery that does not meet our standards is rejected and returned to the supplier. We do this so that we are, in good faith and conscience, shipping a perfectly healthy battery to someone who expects a perfectly healthy battery. Then, we take great care in packaging it up and shipping your order as soon as possible. We also follow new regulations that come with shipping lithium-ion batteries (see this link for more), so we're properly and legally handling everything according to the law.

We have always seen batteries as consumable items, so we put a One-Year Warranty on every battery we sell or replace. If you buy a battery from us and it doesn't work the way it should, we ask you to contact our Support team (link here) and provide us with some information about how this battery is behaving. We often recommend trying some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue to the battery (and not software or other hardware issues being the true culprit), and if necessary, offer a replacement.

I hope this helps answer your question and any concerns you may have!

My 2009 17" was slow near the end of it's run. I kept it at 4GB of RAM so I blame my limited memory for the slowdowns at the end. It likely had nothing to do with the battery. I had the Early 2009 version.

I kept it in regular use until 2014 or so, so I didn't do too bad with 5 years of use out of it. In the end it needed a battery, another hard drive (88/100 reallocated) and motherboard work to fix a fan issue. The keyboard also had to be replaced. The original hard drive failed at the 4 year mark and I had a drive from a RTM Vista laptop to replace it since the original Fijitusu was beginning to fail.

It replaced a 2007 that had multiple warranty issues (at least 5 problems), so I got away from that machine before it could have a GPU failure. Apple did replace my motherboard during the final repair, so it may have had GPU issues while I was under warranty and I got lucky that it failed at the right time.

Is it just me, or, do Macs have a lot of problems?

It's usually GPU related with Apple. They'd rather recycle hot air to cool the CPU/GPU to make the machine aesthetically pleasing then cool their laptops correctly. Not that anyone would see (or care) about a bottom vent but Apple thinks someone will complain if the design is interrupted with real cooling.

Thats basically like recycling the hot air pulled out of the freezer and using it to cool the fridge, it just doesn't work...

"Apple fridge"

patent pending.

Seems to me like there is a lot of noise but not an answer to the question posted by the OP!
