iPod Classic 5th Gen video Battery replacement

I recently received a replacement battery for my Ipod classic 5th gen and its a little bit too big. Its almost like there is a coating around the battery itself that doesn't need to be there. But as I have limited experience with batteries and the 3M adhesive was on this "wrapper" I left it because it looks like it belongs. I have it in and the battery works great but the ipod won't close all the way now and I actually cracked my screen trying to close it by accident. Just wondering if I can take the wrapping off the battery to make it fit better or what I should do?

The iPod Video (5/5.5g) uses different batteries based on the hard drive size. It sounds like you have the thin model (30/60GB) and bought a thick (80/160GB) battery.

It was originally a 30GB but it now has an 80 GB hard drive in it. is the casing itself a different size? And do i need to get the 30GB battery even if I have an 80 GB hard drive?

If you have the 30GB back, you need the thin battery. Thick back iPods need the thick battery.

The 80GB drive requires a thick back.

The larger Hard drive fit, no problems at all. It was only the battery I had a problem with. But okay thanks, I'll look into the thin battery
