Announcing our new iPad app!

We need to make repair accessible to everyone. That means repair documentation needs to go with people to where the broken things are. Computers aren’t very good at the whole mobility thing—but the iPad sure is!

Full announcement here: http://www.ifixit.com/blog/blog/2010/12/...

For those of you with iPads, it's live in the App store now!

For those of you without iPads, the new API is all you need to port our app's source code to the mobile platform of your choice.

Though I have not "yet" obtained an iPad, this seems like a perfect match. Very good job indeed!!!!

Why not all iOS devices? I'm just wondering why you chose only the iPad and not its little 3.5" brothers :P.

But anyway, congrats!! This is a breakthrough as it is the first dedicated mobile app for ifixit eh?

The tablet form factor is perfect for repair manuals. You can use a 3.5" screen to do repair, but it's not nearly as slick. We have pretty limited resources, so we chose to spend our time on the platform that best showcased our information. That said, the app is open source, so someone definitely needs to port it to iPhone! :-)
