ifixit Pro Tech Screwdriver Set 5-piece, Standard and Specialty fade

Hi, I just purchased both the Pro Tech Screwdriver Set 5-piece, Standard and Specialty at amazon about a month ago. i just used it around 3x to open my laptop. noticed that the white printed label is fading every time i use it . Just suggesting that the label be engraved or embossed and not printed. my problem in the future is if the labels get faded, i will not be able to distinguish the sizes of the philips 0,00,000,1, penta, torx5, torx?…etc with each other without the label printed on it. Should have been engraved/embossed at least at the top part of the screwdriver (which is also printed in white but fading too)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for your feedback!

I’ve passed your post along to our Tools team to have a look. While the white print fading is not something necessarily covered under the warranty (this would call under Appearance), we do certainly care about the longevity of our tools and soon they wear down.

This is something I’m sure the Tools team has considered, so I would not be surprised if future iterations of these drivers includes your suggestion. If both of these prints wear off, there might be a few DIY solutions to reapply the labeling, like taking a black sharpie marker to the blue spindle or applying your own labeling solution to them via a laminated seal/tape.

Rest assured that these screwdrivers come with our Lifetime Warranty, so if the tip of the screwdriver wears down, breaks, twists or otherwise fails on you during normal usage, we’ll happily replace it for you. Should that event occur, we ask that you contact our Customer Support team via help.ifixit.com so that they can get you taken care of.

I hope this helps!

If you went with labels, you'll need something like TZe tape (Brother). It's more expensive then standard P-Touch tape but it holds up better in such scenarios. It won't be as pretty as some other solutions BUT it will last the longest.

I'm sure there's better solutions then that (especially considering how much TZe tape costs compared to normal P-Touch tape) but if you care about your replacement labels lasting I'd recommend that.
