New iFixit Battery charges slow and discharges strangely

I’ve installed a new battery from iFixit and it solved my cpu usage issue and the battery warning went away. I’ve reset the SMC and done a battery calibration but it seems to be slow to charge. That’s not a huge problem, I can live with that. But the main problem now is that the battery meter shows ~40 percent and then it will nosedive straight to 7 or 2 percent. It literally goes straight from 40 to 7 or 2. It skips everything in between.
