New battery not recognized by mid-2012 MBP

I just bought a new battery from iFixit for my mid-2012 MBP. After installing it, it seems like my laptop isn’t recognizing that it exists. When I check the charge on the battery indicator LEDs on the left of the laptop they all flash which I’ve never seen before. There’s also no battery icon on my menu bar and when I go to Energy Saver in System Preferences, it lists my charge as 0%. Clicking “Show battery status in menu bar” briefly flashes the icon too quickly to really see, and then it disappears along with the check. Finally, unplugging the charger turns the whole thing off.

I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC which did nothing, and I’ve also put my old battery back in to make sure it wasn’t just me not understanding part of the replacement process but my old battery still works just as well as it did before.

Anything else I should try, or should I just chalk it up to a bad battery?

Thanks

What coconutBattery shows with the new battery is installed. Seems pretty clear that it doesn’t recognize that there’s a battery at all.

Download coconutBattery and open the application. Upload an image of what the application says about the computer and the battery to this question.

Edited my post. It doesn't seem to say anything at all about the battery.

Does it work when not being plugged in wall outlet?

Nope. Plugging it in causes the laptop to turn on automatically. Unplugging it instantly turns the whole thing off. Exactly the same as when I tried turning on the computer without any battery at all plugged in.
