Opinions on the iPhone XS, XS Plus and the XR

I was curious on what y’all think of the newer iPhones so far. My Dad is planning to get the XR when that is available and I might get an XR too.

Opinions?

I’d wait and see for a few months to see what issues end up developing as the phone ages - every single iPhone Apple has released seems to have a problem with some being worse (Ex: iP6 touch disease and the 7 bootloop problem) then others (Ex: iP5 battery problems). If you don’t have the luxury of time like many do, then just keep that in mind about Apple’s phones in general.

The unlocked Xr is already out, but only with a carrier SIM installed. Once we’ve had time to see how those fare, that’s when we will know ALL of the common problems. Ideally I’d like to wait and see for a SIM-free phone as a second quality gauge, but that may not happen.

Along with being a better gauge for quality because those tend to stick around longer, they are more desirable since they don’t require a SIM to activate as iPods. I don’t know if the unlocked with SIM models will be the same. If they need it, you’ll need to keep an inactive SIM for the phone you bought just to activate it.

It will be interesting to see in the future what eSIM looks like on an iPhone.

I'm not trying to discourage you from buying one but known problems have been a thing with Apple for years. It's about finding one with a non-fatal flaw.

@nick I will be waiting for a while and I will buy it if my Dad is issue free with his XR.
