New maps feature on our profiles

The new close up map feature on our profiles is just not effective. It is far to much of a closeup to be able to even tell what state of country someone is in. Please change it back to the old system!

I looked at mine and unless you actually live in Texas no one would know where this is.

Here’s a fine example of “Where in the World is arbaman”

That map is absolutely worthless, you can’t zoom in or out.

Thanks for the feedback—I'll look into changing the zoom level. We had to change off Google Maps last-minute because they started charging to use it. The zoom level change was a side effect.

I can zoom in and out? I don’t see the problem here.

Chosen Solution

Thanks for bringing this to our attention @mayer! We just pushed out an update to the user profile map that changed two things:

  • The map is now zoomed out significantly more, for more geographical context
  • We added + / - buttons to make it more obvious that it’s possible to zoom in and out

Let us know if this addresses the problems you were having.

@david - Looks Good! Thanks

@david those maps look good and @mayer won't even have to scroll anymore :-)

Thanks.

@mayer you can zoom in and out by scrolling when your cursor is on the map.

Or by pinching and spreading your fingers on a phone/tablet/device with a touch screen.

@evan - MacOS Safari needs two finger scroll on the trackpad. Fingers on midpoint sliding up or down to zoom.

Single finger click, then midpoint with second finger to shift view window sliding up, down, left or right.
