@mayer Looks like a bug. We'll look into it. Can you send a screenshot of the error?

by

@jeffsu @evan now I have this issue.

by

why are all these issues suddenly arising? broken web pages, random 410s, broken comments, missing images, etc. What's going on?

by

It must be my return to iFixit. I guess I'm bad luck!

Spent 25 minutes writing a killer comment with links and this error canned it all.

@mayer & @kristen - I’ve found answers which have a lot of comments seem to bring it out.

Here’s one question that encounters it Can I upgrade iMac (Late 2015) fusion drive to SSD?

If I post an answer and then convert it to a comment that will work.

Sorry everybody! We’ve been working really hard the past few weeks on making the website faster, and have been deploying a lot of changes. This bug was accidentally pushed out along with some performance improvements to Answers.

We just deployed a fix, let us know if you run into this again. Sorry for the trouble and the lost comments! :(

That’s a javascript error. Make sure you have javascript enabled, and check that your browser extensions aren’t blocking any javascript features (like some tracking blockers are known to do).

@jeffsu - Don't think thats it, its more likely something to do with the number of comments in a string. But only happens when you trying to post a comment directly, it don't happen when you post an answer and then convert it to a comment.

by

@danj Jeff's right, it's definitely a Javascript error. But, it could be caused by our code. Clearing your cookies will probably fix the issue in the short term while we work out the actual problem.

by

@jeffsu & @evan - I've been clearing my cache and even used a second system and still getting it. Any news from your direction?

We also appear to be loosing questions in both Answers and even here in Meta Meta's 'About' page - change 'software' to a more fitting word?. If one of you folks removed it should have come back with something other than a 410 error.

Thanks for being so patient, everyone! The issue should be fixed now, but please let us know if you see anything funky.
