Sim Card Tray Replacements?

I have a ZE551ML. Great phone. But the Sim tray died. Slowly, at first it would not recognize the card for a moment and then it would comeback, but over time it just faded to the point where it no longer recognizes a card in either sim slot. I’m outside my warranty period, and I’ve also already sent this phone back to ASUS once for the rear speaker. So my options are to pay to send it back to be repaired? Or possibly replace a sim tray? I have since purchased a replacement phone. But even So. its a shame to lose good tech to something simple.

With Ifixit’s recent talks to Motorola and acquiring OEM parts, Is there a possibility where Ifixit might be able to speak to ASUS for the same purpose?

ASUS Tech support and RMA process is actually very good, and they seem to want to stand behind their product. And Actually repair them, They did not send me a refurbished replacement, they actually replaced the rear speaker. And I got my original device back. Any time I have had an issue with this device, or my later Zenfone 3 MAX. The customer support has been impeccable.

Just wanted to put a thought to any Ifixit reps that might be reading.

Also I just had a thought after looking over Ifixit's incredibly detailed picture illustrations of how to replace some parts on the ZE551ML. This Sim Card issue did not start happening until after I sent my phone to ASUS to have the rear speaker replaced. I'm wondering if the ribbon cable to Sim Tray was damaged in that process or simply not fully seated properly. Because it definitely seemed like a slow degradation in communication between the logic board and the Sim Tray. Interesting thought.
