I keep a few old phones around for emergency backups and PDAs since I can get these for very little when they become 2-3 years old. One of these phones may be near the end of it's life but I’m also not entirely sure since I’m not getting HTTPS errors kicked out from Chrome but the Google login is being a pain and I know I have the right password. While I’m not getting a clear indicator like that, the app no longer works.

Is this a bug? It works fine on my S6 Active (S3 replacement) and my Moto G5 Plus (primary). Seeing as I don't have an issue on my newer phones I suspect some sort of security cert on the S3 (AT&T ROM) has expired. If that's the case it's time to permanently retire this S3, since there’s no chance it’ll ever be fixed. This theory is further compounded by the fact this issue only happens on the S3 and not the S6 Active or my G5 Plus and all run the latest version.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I can't even access the Play store on the S3 or any of the other Google services. Hopefully it works out for everyone else. My S3 appears to be at the end of it's life.

A server side fix is needed for these old phones.
