Pentalobe screwdriver I received in tool kit won't fit

I ordered a new screen and battery for my iPhone 6s and also ordered a tool kit. I went to open the iPhone today using the Pentalobe screwdriver supplied but it will not fit!

I tried a number of times but there was no way it was going to fit either of the screws!

I then tried it in my iPhone Xs and it fitted the screws! My iPhone 6s has never been opened so they are the original screws — I’m now confused as to why the screwdriver fits the newer iPhone but not the older one!

As far as I was aware both phones used the same size screws at the base of the phone.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You’re correct in that both phones use P2 pentalobe screws and the same driver should work on all of them.

If the driver you received works correctly on the XS, that would seem to rule out a defective driver. Something is wrong with your iPhone 6s screws. Take a look at them under a magnifying glass and make sure they are, in fact, pentalobes, and that they’re not stripped out or caked over with grime.

If the pentalobe screws just spin that means the posts that have the screw holes that connect to the screen have broken off the screen.

You’ll need to lift up the screen as shown in the guide if that is the case, it should come off relatively easily as if the screws were not there, if not then the screws may be stripped like others have said.
