Hi Nick,

Thanks for catching this. We'll look into this and keep you posted.

The real issue is the plug to his website instead of providing the part number. If he provided the HP Spare# to provide choice (or a link for the maintenance kit from HP as a second option), I wouldn't mind as much but I'd still take issue with the direct link to his company. That wouldn't fly but providing the part number would be okay.

On mine (M401n, so the fuser is a "lifetime" component), you need the HP Spare#. The ones which are designed with this in mind (generally) have a different set of identifying numbers. That said, I did manage to find it at CDW (L0H24A) if you want to extract the numbers as a compromise. Usually, I deal with lifetime fuser hardware where the entire printer is consumed when the fuser quits working. I have less information on the FCC Class A enterprise models that are designed with these components in mind as consumables, but it isn't hard to find if you need to find it.

I took a look at the guide—this is a tricky one! The link he included in the parts section is fine. He hasn't violated any rules here—links to parts websites are acceptable, as long as iFixit doesn't already sell the part (in this case we don't.) It looks like the link to the part does include the part number, but let me know if I am missing something here.

That said, if you did find a better source for the part, feel free to update the guide, or send the link my way, and I'll take care of it. I hope this clears up the situation.

He's got me backed in a corner to find something myself. Yeah, the part is self-promotion but parts for the Class A lasers aren't an easy find in some cases outside of old models like the 42XX series. It's not always easy, but if you know what to search like I do it's not hard. I found 2 sources that weren't tied to his company (but left his in).

The guide is fine, but the parts page needed to be balanced out and that's why I brought it up - I didn't know how to handle it. I didn't change the guide (it's okay) but I added additional suppliers. I know it isn't perfect but it's a compromise that should work for both parties. When I found it, I got a link from HP (direct) and CDW; the Metrofuser link is still there.

The inclusion of the part number (which I thought was a nonstandard one because while I deal with HP a lot and should have known better, but it had -67901 attached. They usually don't provide that and consider that information internal or put it on PartSurfer.) Most sites would just use LH024, which didn't help matters.
