Spammers seems to be waiting a week before posting

Most of the spammers I have noted lately wait a week after joining to post. Maybe they are onto the fact that the moderators have only one day to dump them.

Has a moderator ever abused their ban power? Have you ever reversed one of our bans? How about giving us a week after the poster has joined the site to ban them? As it is, we have to make snap decisions without the option of giving them a chance or a warning.

I suggested this before at the conference.

UPDATE

Most seem to waiting till the 8th day. To many to be coincidence.

I believe you're right, just crossed another one joined Oct 2nd and posted first spam right now, this is 9 days.

Already put into the spam folder.

Hey there @mayer and thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've discussed this internally and we certainly think that moderators should have at least a week to ban a user. We're still discussing this issue, but I'll update you when we've made the change. Thanks!

at this point, we shouldn't publicize it and allowTPTB do determine what the delay should be and communicate it privately with the mods.
