When I read this I laughed and then I cried!

We’ve come so far with tech, and people are so dependent on it today. You would think they would understand the basics to not fall for this scam!

People are putting their routers in jail to protect themselves from harmless Wi-Fi

click bait headlines like yours should always be downvoted.

@einstein333 - Why would you say something so hurtful? It was what I felt when I read it and then when I checked it out it, it was true!

by

you actually think in perfectly worded click-bait headlines? What kind of texts do you read normally? yellow-press only?

by

@einstein333 Why? How is it clickbait? He gets nothing from people clicking, its just a feeling. Not sure if you have ever had those, but he found it funny, along with me.

by

that is the sad thing about it. people think it is perfectly normal to write this way. why not headline the post "users mislead to place WLAN in Faraday’s cage" . not many would care too much.

We’re living in a true Idiocracy at this point.

Seriously this movie is required viewing at this rate:

Also they sell anti 5G stickers too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0006GRNG...

@nick - They over sold what 5G is and why it's useless for the road warrior!

High speed in the wild is a joke! Unless you see the tower you won't get it. Stand in front of a sizable tree the signal drops off.

● Band n41 (2.5 GHz)

● Band n260 (39 GHz)

● Band n261 (28 GHz)

What is really offers is better cell tower efficiency so more radio's can concurrently be supported. Think how 802.11ac intro'ed MIMO. Opens up a small sliver to add to cell use

● Band n71 (600 MHz)

Now let's look at VR glasses the data rate they need is still greater than what WiFi can offer (its choppy when pushed). This is were the high speed becomes important! So this will end up being a peer level interconnect between a processing base system (cellphone) and your ultra lightweight headset! This is called Machine to Machine (M2M) communication.

I'm guessing this coming Tuesday Apple announcement will include a lightweight headset to go with their new phones. I'm suspecting a new HomePod with G5 will also show up too!

@danj I did look at a 5G phone but I noped that as soon as I seen the prices for anything with 128GB of storage ($400+). I pay cash for mine instead of installments, so I have to live with the fact I spent $400 on a minor upgrade.

I'm not about to blow $400 on marketing hype. Maybe next year when I'm behind 2-3 models (or 2-3 year old hardware) and my Moto G7 is starting to get old. Unless you still have something like an S6, it's just an expensive financial blow you want.

by

Yep, im still rocking the iphone 7, its very slow now... all because of ios 14

by

@Dylan Devries Yep - unless you have something like a 7 or a S6 Active you're probably not in need of an upgrade yet. With the iP7, it's typically not Apple's fault - the SW doesn't age well on old hardware.

I still use an i7-3770 on a daily basis and I'm perfectly happy with it. The hard drive I put in? I want an SSD. Even GTA V runs well on the 3770, but my 7570 OEM 1GB barely handles it - I attribute GTA V to my monitor being 900p native because I got it for $1 5 years ago, and it still works. It's coming up on replacement age if something major like the motherboard dies, but it still runs - I'd go with Haswell or Skylake (or Zen 2) at that point and build it from a used off-the-shelf motherboard unless I got a deal on a prebuilt with open market parts. You certainly wouldn't know it's 8 years old unless I told you or you seen the CPU model.

I can carry my drives over to a new system - so I don't mind buying an SSD. RAM? I probably will need DDR3L like the laptops.

by

@nick I wish I could say the same about my i3 5020u, you can definitely tell that its aged lol. I plan to get a desktop
