Including French Repairability scores?

France recently required businesses to display the repairability of their hardware. Going to the French Apple website you can see an example of this.

In the absence of a US rating, would it be worth iFixit comparing their repairability score with what manufactures indicated, when available? If only to see how honest manufacturers are being.

Sadly, I don’t think you can. The French and the coming EU scoring system is still not very stringent.

Creating a set of check off’s in a list per the device type and scoring per each line item makes more sense. Focus on the items that often need replacing or servicing.

As an example replacing a cellphone battery: Needed steps to get to it and number of fasteners needed and if glued what is needed to release it. As well as replacing the screen.

For a PC what is needed to get to the fan and the heat sink fins to clean them of dust buildup, the CMOS battery (if present) replacement of the main battery and display in a laptop.

I’m sure we can create a collection of lists. But what will that get you? I could see working with Consumer Reports so there buying guides list them and giving iFixit a nod.
