Are we recycling the lithium?

Where’s the return box and label for the old battery? You should provide that with your battery kits. I’m all for right to repair, but let’s remember that we need to be responsible with our trash. Please set up a hazardous material return program.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @mmruma,

Thanks for contacting us! We’re grateful that you’re aware of disposing of your e-waste responsibly! Feel free to check out this website to find a recycler in your area that allows drop-offs. Additionally, you can search for R2 recyclers here. Please note while iFixit may appear on the website it is because we recycle internally according to the R2 standard, however we do not accept eWaste from the general public at this time. Sorry about that!

The most sustainable option is to recycle it locally (vs shipping an individual parcel across the country), and it’s dangerous and possibly hazardous to ship batteries that are defective or could be defective. A quick Google search should yield some local recyclers who can help you out as well.

Please let us know if we can further assist and thanks again for reaching out!

Hello Mark

Do you want to pay for 2 shipments?

Why not take the old battery to a recycling center near your home?

Could you do something about it? It is your responsibility and your device.

Why does someone else have to solve your problem for free?
