Mako vs Manta driver sets, no hex security in Mako?

Hello everyone, I’ve been trying to decide between the Mako and full on Manta screwdriver sets to finally replace the cheap screwdrivers I’ve been suffering with for ages. I noticed that the Manta’s hex bits from 2mm and larger are all security hex, while the Mako’s are all normal, non-security hex. Is the page for the Mako outdated, or is that how they still come?

TIA!

Well, blow me down! Hex-Pin Security screw.

They just won't give up! I was thinking you where looking for a Security Torx driver.

@amber - Just another bit iFixit will need to look into ;-{

@danj, I purchased the Manta kit and it does indeed have the hex security bits, like you linked. It is only the smaller Mako kit that weirdly has normal hex, instead.

@ziginox - Maybe gen2 Mako will have the security Hex.

I'll pass this along to the people who make those sorts of decisions! Thanks for tagging me!

Thanks @amber, I feel that would help a lot with the Mako kit, although I think I still would have gone with the Manta set for some of the larger bits. The only apprehension I had was the lack of those, as well as the Manta set not having a PH1 4mm bit. The second, I've found, is not an issue though.

When I got my USB-C Xbox controller to test the replacement for the original receiver, I also bought the Manta driver set at Best Buy because while I wanted it for a while, I also am apprehensive to pay for shipping with how much it adds because of the weight of the driver kit. It ain’t cheap at $65, but it’s worth the cost.

The 64-bit (Mako) driver kit doesn’t include Hex security, but I can confirm the Manta has Hex Security 1/8,9/64,5/32,3/16,7/32,1/4

Oh neat, I didn't know that these were sold at Best Buy. I have a gift card from last Christmas I've been needing to use. I might just use it!

I assume you meant "64-bit (Mako) driver kit"? I just remembered that we have the Pro Tech Toolkit at my work, which seems to include the Mako set, and it doesn't have the security hex, either...

Guess I might swing by Best Buy tonight!

@ziginox Yes, I meant Mako :P. It's not heavily stocked here, so I grabbed one.
