What is the difference between a teardown and a dissasembly?

I was making a guide and before I made it, I was wondering about the difference between the two, but never got around to asking. it literally popped into my head rn, so just wondering!

As far as I understand, disassemblies are the "proper" way to do it and teardowns can get destructive.

Yep! A disassembly is more for something like cleaning water damage whereas a teardown rips everything out of the device FOR SCIENCE for educational purposes.

As an example, my Tile Sticker teardown was meant as a way to look at the internal construction of the device and what chips it uses. You probably wouldn't be able to get the Tile Sticker back together after the teardown.

However, if I made a Tile Sticker disassembly guide (which I won't), you would expect the device to be able to go.back together.
