Electronic gadgets only? What about other things?

I have repaired lots of things in my time. These include cars, TV's, dishwashers and dryers and many electronic gadgets (I am not a professional repairer).

Sometimes I do so with the help of manuals and sometimes without - especially if I haven't got a manual . :-)

I do have some hard copy manuals for several things and I'd like to add these to the general pool either in their hard copy form or in download form.

Is this possible on this site and if so what would be the problems?

Two possible problems spring to mind :-

Copyright of manual info and responsibility for any injury because of repair advice.

Great question!

We hope that iFixit will be a repair manual for every thing. All types of things are welcome, not just electronics. We even have a few car repair guides already!

You can get going starting a new repair guide right now.

We just added support for uploading files (to both wikis and guides), and while it's not perfect yet you could give it a go.

Legally, you should only upload content that you own. If content was uploaded without permission, we would have to remove the material if requested by the copyright holder.

Following an online guide is at your own risk. It's clearly important to convey as much cautionary details as possible, and make sure you don't assume knowledge that is necessary for safety.
