Battery state condition says Replace Now when battery is new

Hello, I just got order from you, Installed memory OK and it helps big time. My issue is that I also got a replacement battery for my MacBook (a1260 version) and when I click on the battery icon next to the time it say for condition "Replace Now"

I thought this was a new battery. Is there a problem with it?? Why would it say for condition:replace now when it is new?? It seems to hold a descent charge about 2.5-2.8 hours, but I am concerned there is a problem with it. Do I need to get a different/new one from you?

Thanks, Neal

When a battery is replaced, the new battery can sometimes show that it is not charging, the computer may not recognize it at all or in your case, in may tell you that it needs to be replaced. Resetting the SMC will often fix the problem. To do so follow these procedures:

First, you should repair the disk permissions in Disk Utility.

  1. Shut down the computer and connect it to a power source.
  2. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  3. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Turn on the computer.

If the issue persists, you may also need to physically disconnect and reconnect the battery cable on the logic board and try the procedure again.
