Use of manufactures product key for MS XP, or Vista

When you attempt to refurbish a discarded computer and you are not the origional owner.

Is there a legitimate way to get a origional operating system restore disk from the manufacture.

I have about 7 different computers, laptops and PC's that require a pasword to start windows.

I also have a few computers that need new hard drives to operate, but would need a restore disk .

I can load Ubuntu and it works well running off a cd, I guess that I could wipe the hard drives and go all ubuntu, but I was wondering if I can get origional Windows opreating system software from the OEM's if I give them the license key found on the computers.

How does your team who restores computers for the poor get past the password reconition problem?

I feel funny asking Dell or Hp to issue me repair disks for 4 to 5 computers at a time. Is this the way to do this?

Do the software programs that clame to unlock ADM. and user passwords actually work. If they do what ones work best with all manufactures computers?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I am having a hard time getting what you're asking, but I will try to answer anyway being I can make out a little. It sounds like you are going to want OEM SLIC recovery media. However, a few things are different.

Windows XP has been EOL since April 8th of 2014. It's 2 years past it's EOL stage. Do not use XP on customer systems anymore. Vista is due to go EOL on April 11th of 2017, so it isn't far off from joining Windows XP.

However, Windows 7 is still viable until 2020 so you have ~3 years left before 7 goes EOL and joins XP and Vista.

Windows 8.1 is good until October 14th of 2023.

For each OS, here's what I'd do:

  • Windows XP should not be put out there for consumers. Upgrade capable XP systems to 7 or 8.1 if you can.
  • Vista should follow the same rule as XP, roughly. If you ship with Vista, discount the price heavily.
  • 7 and 8.1 are fine. If it came with Win8 or 8.1, the key is in the BIOS and all you have to do is burn media or write it to a USB stick and install from there.

The big thing to remember is you need to include recovery media with the system, which can be done by including the install DVD you used. For OEM systems you use the SLIC license on, price recovery media into the final price of the system and ship it with the media you bought for recovery. For Windows 8.1, you will have to see if you have to include official media or can include a DVD made from the Media Creation Tool.

And no, do not crack the passwords. Wipe the systems and install the OS clean.

The simple answer is the makers of the computers will sell you a restore disk if you can verify ownership of the computer. Google the maker and contact the customer support department. Good luck.

I think Billmessmer only needs a few software for fixing those old computers, now that Microsoft stop supporting them, you need to go the back way.

I am not promoting any particular software, just helping.

for getting the windows password off, you need the software called: Powersuite 2011,

download it and burn it on a CD.

Start the computer with the CD on. Get to the Bios with the DEL key or F2, and go to boot and choose to boot from CD, save and exit.

When the Powersuit loads, go to password, and there you can take the password off.

In the same way, for product keys and windows XP software, just ask google and I am sure you will find it to download.
