obsolescence of iPods/ipads/iPhones and any ideas for solutions?
Now then fellow fixers. After a long break, and a huuuuuge clear out via eBay, I have started again in the fixing department. What really got up my left nostril ( a quaint but useful saying here) is that I had working iPhones and iPods that are no longer supported by iTunes so although you could put music or photo's on, you could no longer download apps or apps you did have were no longer supported and therefore redundant. They have become virtually worthless even though they work. It was a problem too for my iBook G3. I never felt too upset by it until recently, and I don't think it's just Apple that are the one's to blame here-for example all those android phones that aren't eligible for the newest OS. Is there no way of getting apps that were for the earlier OS to be available? Or are we all doomed to be on the "upgrade" treadmill?
Is this a worthwhile discussion?

Apple releases cool new things in newer versions of the developer SDK, but newer versions drop support for older OSs. And the OSs progressively drop support for older hardware. :/
