Needing some old water pumps

Okay, now I need some help. I am going to attend a few days at a training session on the repair of India Mark II and Afridev, the Bush Pump, Volanta, Kardia, Vergnet, Monitor/Windmill, New Zealand, Pitcher Pump, Rower Pump, and Rope Pump ( I did not know there were that many different ones;-) Anyhow, I am looking to get some old pumps for repair. I scoured the usual places like Ebay, Craigslist and plenty of yard sales. Not a lot of luck. I was wondering if anybody can get me some good leads on where to get water pumps requiring repair. Also, if anybody has any laying around that are in need of repair, and you are willing to part with them, please contact me. Just check my user id for my contact address. It would also help, if anybody from Central or South America could give me any tips on what type of pump might be used in their area. I am in the planning stages of a pretty neat field trip. Thanks.

Wow, that's fantastic! What a great opportunity. We've got a few Bush Pump experts around here.

While you're there, please take a camera and see what you can do to improve our manuals!

Much of the difficulty of repairing these pumps is in working with them in the ground. There's a lot of difficulty around pipe management. The best way to learn is to disassemble a pump that's in the ground. That's how the LifeWater team trains, and they're the ones who taught us. They have an India Mark II, Afridev, Bush Pump, India Mark III, and a Tara here in San Luis Obispo that are used exclusively for training purposes.

That's not to say that taking apart a pump wouldn't be instructive, but I think it'd only get you halfway there. I'm not surprised that you're having trouble getting one in the US—they were never really used here. I'll email you with some contact info and we'll see what we can do.

Thank you very much for your help. I will most definitely take lots of picture and will create as many manuals as I can.

Hi Guys!

We don't have any broken pumps lying around, but we do have a few options here in SLO that are working and in the ground, as Kyle mentioned. Let me know if you want to check those out sometime.
