Install new drive in the Upper or Lower slot?

The guide pictures and instructions show adding a second drive to the Upper bay (originally empty in stock configuration) and leaving the OEM drive in the Lower bay. The Bay names are as indicated in the System Report.

However, many comments in the guide seem to indicate that the drive positions should be reversed when adding an SSD, iow the OEM drive should be moved to the Upper bay while the SSD should be installed in the Lower.

Could we get a little clarification?

I successfully used your kit to install my SSD and put it in the Upper bay per your guide. I am getting short hangs and beach balling and generally not terrific performance.
