wouldn't it be nice

Wouldn't it be nice if there was some place we could hang a big sign that says. Rice is for eating and wont dry your phone. It seems like every other question that involves a water damaged phone ,tablet or computer it gets stuck in rice and for five minutes or a few hours You could probably feed a staving nation with the wasted rice. When I use desiccant or silica gel I leave it there for days before I clean things properly. Thank you for letting me vent .

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I agree Rice is a joke, but even other desiccant products are useless! They all depend on the wetness (water) going into a vapor for them to work.

If you wait that long its often to late to save the device. Besides it's the other stuff in the liquid which is harmful. Pure distilled water won't short out a battery! The salts (free ion's) that make it conductive. The acids & sugars corrode as well.

Also, leaving a wet phone in any desiccant for days before cleaning is silly. Upon receiving a wet phone, open that sucker up and clean it immediately, preferably with an ultrasonic cleaner. Once water enters the phone, galvanic corrosion begins immediately and leaving a wet phone in a desiccant for any amount of time just allows the corrosion growth to do more damage.
