Do I now have voting limits?

With the increased traffic and questions on the site, we have a corresponding need to be able to vote. We had twenty-three pages of question and answer for yesterday to today. It appears that @oldturkey03 and myself cast most of those votes around here. But I see I am now limited to 15 votes. This means I can only vote on less than one question per page. I feel the limit needs to be lifted at least for the moderators who do the voting.

After reading this I went on a voting binge to see what the limit is and was able to vote 50 time before I was told I reached my daily limit . so something sounds off there

by

It is the same issues as the voter count. The 24 hour thing. iFixit counter seems to use 24 hours as a day, but not 0000-2359. Time seems to start from the first upvote and allows you 50 in a 24hr period.

by

Yes, we can definitely look into this! Are there any other limits (outside of upvotes per 24 hours) that you'd like to see increased?

by

@kyle Now that you ask: A down vote limit for people that get ticked with me and give me 40 down votes in one day (which are still on my record). Majesty 188 1.1% 40 61.5%

by

We could do a downvote-per-person-per-day limit, although that might make it harder for you to deal with the folks who post lots of borderline answers in rapid succession..

We increased the votes per day limit to 75.

I'm getting the message today "you only get 10 up votes for the day. Users with less than 10 reputation can only vote 15 times a day, while everyone else gets 75 votes per day." Has my reputation broken the bank? https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/2958...

Besides don't new users generally start of with about 150 points for just signing up and posting a profile?

Mayer, it looks you were able to cast more than 55 votes yesterday, and looking at your vote history, you hit 75 votes cast within 24 hours a little bit before you made this post. The code is working right, but we can still adjust the limits if they're getting in your way.

@sterling Looks like the @name is not working on meta or you have not set it up for yourself. Could you up the limits for moderators without to much effort. We are getting a lot more questions lately. I would like to encourage people to vote, we don't get a lot of voting. The message that I got must be the wrong default message, it was for ten votes not 75. minor bug but gives @caitemmasmith something to keep her job next month ;-)

by

@mayer, you are to funny :-) It is the same 24hour rule that messes you up. You got 75 votes in 24hours. that does not mean that the 24hours start at midnight. I bet it starts from your last vote:-)) Remember this discussion a while back Change in upvote credit or just a fluke?

by

@mayer You're right, we didn't enable @mentions on meta. We can look into hooking that up. We'll certainly look into increasing the vote limit. As far as the message you received, can you take a screenshot for me next time you get it? I looked through our code, but I couldn't find a message with that exact wording. I did find one that said you get 15 votes when you have less than 10 reputation, but not one talking about 10 votes. Thanks!

by

Sterling - That was the exact wording of the message I got. "you only get 10 up votes for the day. Users with less than 10 reputation can only vote 15 times a day, while everyone else gets 75 votes per day."

@caitemmasmith "Here's another nice mess you've gotten me into."
