MacBook Pro Retina Display Rebuilding

It's obvious Apple will continue with the Retina displays. I have replaced several of these costly parts with complete units. But we are going to have to learn how to repair them. Yes, it may be tough but so were keyboard replacements instead of uppercase replacements. Are there any good guides or videos and where can I buy the parts to do it? @kyle Do I really have to go to strangers for Mac parts?

With a small bump, the front glass sandwich from our Retnia display got a small bubble and the image is distorted on both vertical and horizontal axis fron that spot. So I need to replace the glass panel but can't find what I feel is a reliable source. It would be good if ifixit would find a reasonably priced source and offer us an option to purchase.

@mactechplus I don't see that happening, seeing as iFixit's main audience is people who are new to repair, rather then people who have a lot of real world experience. They will probably still sell the assembly only.

@nick - I understand but the crew at IFixit has a lot more contacts than we do and could do it it just as a concession to the idea of repair rather than replacement. Or at the very least give us links to good prices and where to get the parts. After all the world is not completely filled with profit motive, present company especially included. If it was, my checks have been addressed to the wrong place for the last 5 years. I order a lot of replacement screens and keyboards, mSATA drives because they are not offered by this site host. I really don't want to spend hours searching for parts (which I do every day), that could be provided here. I want IFixit to BE my supplier. Close to being price competitive, I will pay more for good service, one stop shopping, just one shipping charge, no taxes, so I can either work repairing stuff or spend my time answering questions. @kyle - this is a hint! Sell me the parts I need!

Give me a good guide on how to install them, i don't think we have a guide on MBP keyboard replacement or Retina repair.

@mayer - I agree. They should do such guides. The majority of my guides I produce are very, very often not all that useful to a massive audience but it works out in the sense the guides I do very much expect to be limited to a small amount of users actually do better then the guides meant for a larger audience. I don't see how iFixit would be hurt by offering the novice friendly guide (change the assembly) and the pro level guide (just the glass and LCD with the existing housing).

Louis has a video on how to do it. As to parts that will take some time to find them, since most sellers sell the whole assembly.
