Release Notes: April 1st, 2016

Features

  • Any guide, in any language, can now be saved as a PDF in that language. (Sans-official translation, you’ll get a machine translated guide PDF.) Liberté, égalité, fraternité!
  • Started sending digest emails that summarize your impact on iFixit over the past month. Cheers from Academy Award Winner Jack Dawson.

  • We’re dropping new beats—like a sweet new style for dropdown menus which will show up in future projects.
  • Redesigned Media Manager to make it more mobile friendly. (Don’t worry, it won’t be texting you on the regular, it’s just easier to use now.)
  • Any iFixit member can now publish a story in Stories, without having to place an order first. No purchase necessary, let other users know how you did!
    • Speaking of stories, we added a 'Write a Story' button to the bottom of guide pages. This allows users to easily submit stories about completing a repair or other guide procedure.
  • Redesigned the slider UI element. Because sliders are delicious.
  • We had to break up with several older browsers. So we cleaned up some of our CSS by removing browser prefixes for things that were standard. And put everything they owned in a box to the left.
  • We now offer the option to import all relevant prerequisite guides with a single click. Almost as cool as leaping buildings in a single bound, you don’t need to add each one manually anymore.
    • You can also import the same prerequisite guide multiple times within your prerequisite guide list. Because you can never have too much of a good thing.
  • iPad Mini 4 and iPad Pro parts are now available for purchase at http://iFixit.com/store!

  • Good tabs make good neighbors. Reformatted the community tabs to allow easy navigation between all community pages.
  • Button, button, who’s got the button? Updated the style of buttons across the site.
  • Increased users’ upvote limit to 75 per day on Answers. Because democracy.
  • Added a visual progress bar to the order history page to make it easy to see where your order is at!
  • You used to call us on your cellphone...but we replaced our old contact form with the new help page at http://help.ifixit.com/, making things even easier. Helpline bling.

  • What’s in a name? Capulet or Montague, easily add teams to private guides with the new team search bar, no more pesky dropdown.
  • You get a logo! And you get a logo! And you get a logo!!! Added the option to download all iFixit logos by right clicking on the iFixit logo on the homepage.

  • If a user has discounted pricing, the marked down price will now be displayed site wide, instead of after products have been added to their cart. No more doing math in your head!
  • Greatly improved the loading time of the Contribute page. Power! Speeed!

  • Updated Guide History so that similar revisions will be grouped together into a single edit.
  • Decreased the autocompleter loading time when mentioning users by username. Don’t be afraid to say my name, say my name.
  • Improved the mobile display of the 'Preview' and 'Next' buttons on the step edit page. They no longer overlap other elements on the page. Because everyone needs a little space.
  • Added iFixit product banners to Answers pages. Now you can find the parts and tools you need even faster.
  • Redesigned the link modal on Answer and Wiki pages to make it more intuitive. Too easy.

Bugs

  • Fixed a bug in which extra white space was being inserted at the end of Answers. We had a blank space, baby, but don’t write your name.
  • Corrected the way that a user's reputation events are displayed. Events will now be displayed even if a user has reached their maximum reputation limit for the day. So you can still brag about your rep events, even if you hit the daily max. Sweet.
  • Fixed several bugs related to the new autocomplete function on dropdown input fields.
  • Fixed a bug in which links in questions on device pages were not working properly. Basically this was happening if the device page did not exist in the same language as the question. Languages are tough!
  • Fixed a bug that said “Your money’s no good here!” And basically prevented PayPal orders from processing correctly. Oops.
  • Fixed a bug in which the filters on the user activity page were not displaying properly.
  • Fixed several alignment issues on the Login form.
  • Fixed a bug in which comments on questions were being lost when the question was migrated either to or from Meta. No more yelling into the void!
  • Fixed a bug on the User Activity where selecting the Guide or Answer filters would cause the page to error out. No more 404!
  • Fixed a bug that was preventing users from updating their name or company in their profile information, no name-change paperwork required!
  • Fixed several alignment issues on the Register page. (We’re chaotic neutral now. Just kidding.)
Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Looks like you earned your keep for another month! Well done ;-) BTW - the iFixit team seems to be hearing much better and responding much faster.
