A1303 battery replacement Faulty

Hi I replaced the battery in my old A1303 with a Ifixit replacement,

I have been away for a while and when I came back the phone screen had been pushed out of the housing,I have just opened the phone and find the replacement battery supplied has swollen in its package and distroyed the entire phone, I don't know what to do with the battery as it has so much pressure in the package that I fear it might pop/explode,
