Answer

POSTED: 07/30/2014

I thought Samsung was a good company! I will never look at them in the same light again... although I've got a slightly different (and worse) problem with my tab. If anyone here is thinking of buying one, DON'T. Sorry to say this Samsung, but you're tablet series was kind of a waste. If you're looking for a decent tablet, buy a Nexus 7. :)

@lpfaff1 what action did you recommend on each of these?

by

@mayer, the first 2 suggested should be comments and the 3rd suggested to be question?

by

@lpfaff1 @mayer things are not always as easy as they seem. There are consciously made decisions behind my moderating and hopefully do not leave the impression that I base my decisions on personal biases or opinions

by

oldturkey03, Me to comments when posted as an answer should be change to a comment, when no beneficial info. added? Correct?

by

@lpfaff1 that should work if it is for the right device, pertains to the question and does not add any new information.

@lpfaff1 I assume you are referring to my mods on this question https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/1330...

Just in short what I based the moderation decision on:

#1 Answer POSTED: 07/30/2014 by "Adam" irrelevant comment since it had nothing to do with the original question which was "Why won't my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 turn on?" not if Samsung was a good or bad company and/or provided quality equipment.

and this one

#2 Answer POSTED: MARCH 27 by electronicsurplus "I also tried reflowing the Main processor and the small ic but, still nothing" directly posted below another question posted as an answer by same user. Added 2nd answer to first answer(question) as comment. Deleted answer (question) totally since a conversion after 3 month from this to a question, without additional follow up from the OP, would lead to another "dead" question with no definite answer from the OP

as well as this one

#3 same reason deleted answer (question) since a conversion from this to a question, would lead to a duplicate question since the OP "zaid" had already posted a question about same problem https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/3993...

Let me know if this answers your concerns and explains the moderation on those.

OT, OK sound some what logical, Just trying to get a handle on this, thinking an answer no matter how bad was an answer and a comment would be a comment, etc,etc.. Comments posted as as an answer that do not pertain to orig. question should be removed which unable to do. Just trying to help with a little clean up and you have to admit some times it is difficult. In answer #2, had his original question been deleted prior?

by

"thinking an answer no matter how bad was an answer and a comment would be a comment" for as long as it has to do with the device in question and pertains to the problem. General comments about things like the manufacturer are irrelevant since the OP is the one that has the equipment, no matter how good/bad we may think the maker of this is. A question listed as an answer can and should be converted if it is reasonably new but after a few month it is abandoned and just creates clutter. After all there are around 29,000 questions that remain unanswered. May be we all should start trying to work on those and see if we can either answer those or mark them as unanswerable. There is no really a right or wrong when it comes to moderation for as long as everything pertains to the original question. Remember, we try to answer questions on an individual basis and we do not want to follow the route that many other forums go with the "me too" add-on's.
