@danj no he cannot, nor did he. He will have "Accept as Answer" on his mod menu and can (and has done so a few times) vote on it. There are no bugs. This is exactly the way it has always been, no change on that at all. It still requires 5 votes by users to accept an answer.

I'd like to know why I don't see that option all the time. I thought it was because of recentcy but that answer is several years old.

@kyle I'm afraid I still don't understand. When does the option for accept as answer become available? I see it sometimes, other times not. Sorry for the trouble.
