Release Notes: July 18th

New Features

  • Translations are now listed in the Contributions section on user profile pages and will be accounted for in your digest emails. Because translators are real people too.
  • You can now link directly to comments on guides anywhere that accepts wiki syntax. Because sometimes that question has already been answered.
  • You now have the option to delete an attachment on guides, wikis, and Answers. Now nothing is written in stone.
  • Added a langid badge in front of the entries on /Manage/new-guides to indicate the source language of that guide. While we were at it, we added the 'Show All Languages' toggle to selectively filter out languages that don't match your view language.
  • Our most popular parts and tools are now available from canada.ifixit.com! Our Canadian customers will get faster shipping, lower prices, and no weird Customs fees. We’re hoping to make it rain tools in Canada, which could actually be an improvement on Canada’s weather during the winter months.

Site Improvements

  • We added the navigation bar from the redesigned guide view to a variety of other pages including wikis, translation pages, edit pages, and history pages.
  • In order to improve security and prevent brute-force login attempts, we've added a recaptcha to our login form that will show up when we surpass a certain threshold of login attempts per minute.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with the formatting toolbar width on guide intro edit, so you can see it again.
  • Videos uploaded in portrait mode will now generate correctly-oriented thumbnails, instead of showing up sideways.
  • We no longer display a table of contents on wiki pages that have no headings.
