I'm going to take an educated guess you're referring to the 2DS XL. If this is the case, a merge isn't appropriate. When Nintendo releases a New version of an old console, it means there were hardware revisions.

These revisions warrant a new device page, and shouldn't be merged.

I see a "new" reference in the other device page, but I don't know how relevant it actually is. It's possible @pccheese is right, but this needs to be fact checked.

Look at the release date. The older device page says "new" because the last time Nintendo released a new 3DS it was called the "new" 3DS. So whoever created the old one must have been confused about the naming. I'm 120% positive these are the same devices.
