Why can't I delete the first step in a guide?

There seems to be a big bug in the guide-editing code; I'm unable to delete the first step in a guide (after e.g. moving it to another guide).

Instead, what happens is that it will sometimes delete the *second* step in a guide. I haven't narrowed it down; it might be that after deleting step 1 in a guide, and then trying to delete the new step 1, it deletes step 2.

The result is disaster -- there's no way to undo it, and so the only thing I can do is try to replace the text on the first step with the stuff that was there before. Unfortunately, those edits look quite messy, and often end up being denied in Patrol -- meaning that the only result of my efforts is a -25 hit to my reputation. I'm sorry for the frustration, and I'm looking into this. It'll help me if I know what you're trying to do. What change were you wanting to make to the DS Lite guide?

I also gave you 50 rep. Thanks again!

I was able to repeat this. If you edit a guide that you don't own (it has to be patrolled) and delete the first step once, things work fine. However, if you delete the first step again (initially was the second step) it now deletes the second step (initially was the third step) instead of the one you wanted. *sigh*

Looking into what is causing it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Found and fixed the issue. We're in the middle of a big code push so it may be a few days before the fix goes live. Thanks for finding it and letting us know!

Great, thanks a lot for taking care of it -- for obvious reasons, it's hard for me to test it, but I'll let you know if I run in to the problem again. Thanks for making such a fun site!
