Hey Aiden, We only support inline markup like bold, italics, underline, etc and links on guide step lines. I'm not sure if that's actually documented anywhere though. We probably grouped comment tags along with block tags like image, embed, and code blocks that don't really fit in a small text input like guide steps. Comment tags should still work on Guide introductions, Answers posts, and Wikis. Sorry for the lack of information on that. We can probably be better at that.
We were trying this out, and it looked like changing your root password with [code] from the terminal fixed it temporarily. Thanks for posting about the actual fix! I hadn't heard about it yet.
Looks solid to me. "Once you are done with the old drive, securely wipe the drive before getting rid of it. If you are going to destroy it, make sure you smash the platters and hear them shatter." If you want, you could add something about how using full disk encryption means that you only have to delete your encryption key to render the data on the drive useless. The upside of that is that if the drive is still under warranty, you can send it back to the manufacturer for a replacement without having to send personal data back to them.
