Meta is a Support Forum for iFixit.com
Having issues with iFixit? That's where Meta comes in. This wiki will answer your questions about the Meta forum.
Trying to do something on iFixit.com but it's not quite working out? You’ve come to the right place. Meta connects you with friendly iFixit staff and moderators from around the site to help you with your questions. So ask any iFixit question you’d like. About your guide images, about finding something in our store, about spam you're finding in the community—seriously, ask us anything (as long as it’s iFixit.com-related)! Our community is a helpful bunch of people who care about our website (and repair and the environment) and want to make your experience as smooth as possible.
Meta Forum
The Meta Forum is a community dedicated to helping solve problems you can't solve in our Answers forum.
What do I do first?
Before you ask your question, we recommend doing a quick search for your question to see if your question has already been asked. Odds are that if it has been asked, the answer is already there—so you won’t have to wait for a reply! Check out the database of solutions by using the search box at the top of Meta, typing the key words from your question into the search bar.
If you found your question in the forum, but it hasn’t been answered yet, click on the button “I have this problem too” next to the “Answer this question” button. (Don’t forget to save your email address in your profile in order to get an automatic notification when the question has been answered.)
How do I ask a question?
Couldn’t find your answer? Time to click on Ask a Question at the top of the forum.
Our community wants to help answer your questions. The better the question, the more answers you’ll get, so try to be as specific as possible.
Who will answer my question?
It takes a village to answer a repair question. iFixit is that village. Meta is collaboratively managed by people who know a lot about iFixit and are passionate about our mission. You'll most likely be answered by our Community Manager, other iFixit staff, iFixit volunteer moderators, or even other "regular" users like yourself! See a question you happen to know the answer to? Feel free to jump in and give a solution!
What do I do while I wait?
While you're waiting for your answer, why not have a look around to see if you know the answer to any of the questions waiting for help.
Someone answered my question, now what?
Once you've received an answer to your question, make sure to select whether or not the answer was helpful and leave a comment explaining how it helped you solved your issue. Please make sure to always accept an answer you get when it solves your problem.
One more thing…
Please don’t post your email or phone number in your question. Your personal information is not related to the question itself, and our spam robot will have a hard time with that type of information. If you do want to invite other members to get in direct touch with you, you may add this information to your profile page but please be aware of the risk of being spammed as we can’t protect you in this case. If you’d like to read more about our Spam Policy, please head here.
We’re all here to help each other out. The overall rule here is be kind. If you’re not sure if what you have to say (or what you’re reading) is appropriate and belongs on iFixit.com, go check out our Community Guidelines. You’re also more than welcome to reach out and ask us at community@ifixit.com.
What's the Catch?
There’s always a catch, isn't there…
We make money by selling parts. If you want to help us feed our programmers, buy something or tell your friends about us.
Answers and Meta are totally free, and will always be that way. Our goal is to help you keep your stuff working longer. Period. You won't see any Google-baiting, ad-stuffing, or answer-cloaking here.
