The happiest of elevensies @danj 🎉🍾

I enjoy reading all your answers, and I’ve learned many a thing about Macs in particular that I wasn’t aware of!

You treat people so nice, and you have a way of explaining things in a simple way, but still getting deep into it 🤩

Keep fixing the 🌍

Wow!! 11 years is...absolutely stunning. Imagine how much an 11 year old kid has learned throughout their lifetime - I think one could totally say that equals all that you've taught us here!!! It's an honor to have you, and I hope you'll continue to be just amazing!!!

@sandrahiller - While I’ll agree an 11 year old has learned much more in that short time then what they will likely learn In the next 11 years! As our brains age we have a harder time to learn unless you really apply your self. But to be honest I’m humbled by thought!

As we pass our zenith we start loosing things, some sooner than others. I hope my efforts live longer than me and I’m hoping for at least 30 more fruitful years!

Thanks!

So um, how'd you learn how to do it all? What's your repair story?

@ngurney - I mostly stay in my skills lane Mac’s. Way back in the Stone Age of computers, I worked fixing PC’s IBM and Compaq systems.

The store I worked at wanted to sell the just intro’ed Macintosh back in 1985 when they became available. They sent me to California for training if I remember correctly I was in the fifth class of 20 for four days.

I had gone to the BCS Mac intro as at the time I was active in the Apple ][ group and was asked to help out.

After the meeting we traditionally go for Chinese which Steve and his team joined us. I was surprised when I was in Cupertino for training he recognized me! He asked me what I thought of that first generation system (128 Macintosh)I told him I was very impressed!

I did tease him now you need an Amiga killer as it has color, he smiled and uttered soon! But of course it took a bit more time as they struggled with their just in time build approach which plagued them for a few years.

I bought one for my dad and later I got a 512 for my self, over the years I’ve bought a few!

I met up with Steve a few more times at the BCS meetings and each time he remembered me.

Dan, thanks for all your expertise over the years. Texas might be a better and much warmer place for you, certainly cheaper. Even Rossman moved to Texas. You would miss those wonderful lobsters though.

@mayer - Us big guys find Texas a bit too warm in the summers 😟

I’ve been in Texas quite a few times my favorite place is the San Antonio Riverwalk! As well as Dallas, All of the neon on the buildings! I was caught in a terrible hail storm and flood there which I was happy for! Not because of the hardship people where having. I had three more days to rest up before heading to Caracas Venezuela!

At the time I was building a sizable network for a major chemical company which forced me to travel around the world a few times! It was a grind as my body clock was a mess for quite awhile.

My heart ❤️ has me going to Luca Italy 🇮🇹 In the hills. COVID messed me up, not sure what I will do now. Stay here and just travel a bit more.

I plan to stay active here a few more years! But it’s clear Apple is pushing hard green washing! And making repairs a ‘Mother May I’ like John Deere! We need to get the right to repair on the books soon! Without being watered down.

And yes I would miss the lobsters!
